WIth the MTV Video Music Awards tomorrow, Lil Wayne has offered his reaction to not being nominated for any of the awards. In a tweet today, Wayne said that he "apologizes to the fans" for being overlooked. He also pointed out that he received no nominations for the BET Awards. What's interesting about Wayne's tweet is that rather than blaming the award shows for their oversight of his music, common for hip-hop artists, Wayne is putting the onus on himself, accepting the fact that he might not have put out anything worthy enough for consideration.

Wayne's last album, I Am Not A Human Being II, came out back in March 2013. In 2012, he released his Dedication 4 mixtape with DJ Drama. Both projects received mixed reviews, and I Am Not A Human Being II has had moderate success commercially, having thus far sold less than 600,000 units.

Wayne is known for his prolific output, so maybe this tweet is a sign that we will be seeing more music from the New Orleans native in the near future, perhaps as soon as Drake lets go of the much-anticipated Nothing Was The Same.
