The-Dream is credited with co-producing and co-writing the opening track to Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail, and according to the Atlanta songwriter, "Holy Grail" was the very reason why Hov pursued his new album.

In an interview with Revolt, Dream revealed that the record was created by him and Timbaland around the time that Watch The Throne was being put together in 2011. However, instead of "Holy Grail" being made with Jay and Kanye West, it was introduced during a Beyoncé session. "We wasn't even there to make a Jay album, we was there fucking with B," Dream said. "He was just chilling. [He] heard that one fucking record and was like, 'Oh shit. Nigga, let's go.'"

The-Dream goes on to explain that the body of Magna Carta was made within two weeks time. This news shouldn't come as a surprise, though, as Jay-Z made The Blueprint in similar fashion.
