Just think about that for a minute: Skrillex, a guy that many feel has been the bane of dance music, having the most played show in the 46-year history of BBC Radio 1. It sounds crazy, but it's true, confirmed by OWSLA themselves:

Got word over the weekend that @Skrillex @EssentialMix was the single most played piece of content in @BBC_Radio_1 history across all media

— OWSLA (@OWSLAOfficial) July 8, 2013

We knew the furor over the mix was intense, but who expected this kind of play. Hopefully you've found a way to listen to the mix, considering that it's not been available to stream on Radio 1's site since a week after it dropped. It's, well, essential. We're going to have to assume that Radio 1 already has it on their shortlist for Essential Mix of the Year, right?
