In this interesting clip, Nile Rodgers starts out talking to those who go a bit further than hating on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories (or anything, really), saying that "anybody can dislike Daft Punk’s record, it's fine. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. But to try and say that you want to limit a person’s artistic vision because you do things another way seems really not in the spirit of dance music." What's interesting is that he then starts to talk about the work that went into the album with the androids, and how one of their key pieces of motivation was making the album as if the Internet didn't exist. Chew on that one for a bit, and what it'd take to have to achieve what they did without the vast amount of ready-made sounds that today's producer has. No knock to them, but to have that mentality in a modern age is a great thing for a dance producer.
