Excision, Downlink, and KJ Sawka Form DESTROID

With the amount of people calling dubstep "dead" (hell, I've said it), the news that a supergroup consisting of Excision, Downlink, and KJ Sawka is launching an album and a tour is huge. They're calling themselves DESTROID and have an album (The Invasion) coming out on May 7.

With the amount of people calling dubstep "dead" (hell, I've said it), the news that a supergroup consisting of Excision, Downlink, and KJ Sawka is launching an album and a tour is huge. They're calling themselves DESTROID and have an album (The Invasion) coming out on May 7.

"Wasteland" is a record that I would have thrown in my DJ sets two years ago. The production is incredibly aggressive. "Crusaders" drops into a double-time floor stomper, and flips into an aggressive dubstep tune. Every record on here is absolutely huge. The full release boasts 10 original tracks, and will include production from Space Laces, Bassnectar, Ajapai, and others.

And before you enthusiasts shrug this off, think deeper. With the complete lack of huge tunes from the artists that were headlining clubs in the past three years, the scene has all but vanished. We need records like this to succeed if we want dubstep to be considered by venues and festivals booking music. The last thing anyone wants is for people in power to say "let's get a bunch of trap DJs… that's what the kids like." DESTROID will be destroying the stage at Moonrise and Camp Bisco.
