King's one of those acts that snuck up on us; DAD likes that. It's one thing to always be the "told you so" kind of person, that shows dedication to not only finding emerging talent, but making it a point to say "you need to listen to this artist, here's why" before everyone else does. It's a different thing entirely to have a sick artist, affiliated with a label you're enamored with, present such a slick album that you can't do much but pinch yourself to make sure you're not dreaming. That's what King's Koncepts did to us upon first listen. He's got a way of twisting bass music in a way that's both familiar and unknown (at the same damn time). Be it as a DJ or producer, King's just got it. You get to hear a few reasons why he's the truth as a producer in his DAD Mix, but you also get a peek into much of the music that's impacting the Internets and our own personal playlists.
And, truthfully, there's no better way to kick off your week than with a heavyload of bass in your face. Check out King's Five Tracks to see how he got here, then ride shotgun as he shows us where he's going.
