Pusha T Says Competitive Spirit Fueled Released of "Numbers on the Boards"

What else do 'Ye and Pusha have in store?

While "Numbers on the Board" is a great track and all, one can't help but feel that its release was a little random. That's because it kinda was; Pusha T confirmed the release was completely spontaneous in an interview with MTV. The G.O.O.D. Music consigliere visited with Fabolous to promote their upcoming "Life Is So Exciting" tour. Pusha said Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Jay-Z ("Open Letter") were putting out "street records, so it was time for him and Kanye West to get to work. "I believe it's that competitive spirit," Pusha said.

The only forewarning Pusha T had about the record coming out was a phone conversation with 'Ye: "I called him back and said, 'Yeah, it sounds crazy.' He was like, 'Yeah, I'm putting it out in 15 minutes.'" No calls to the label or nothing.

And so, after recording "Numbers on the Board" one or two weeks ago, the record drop. In the interview, Fabolous said he has to release a record now after Pusha came with some heat. The spirit of competition.
