ItsTheReal, comprised of Jeff and Eric Rosenthal, are well known for their quirky brand of hip-hop sketch comedy and hilarious interviews with basketball players, rappers, and other entertainers. In addition to that, Jeff is a journalist, predominantly writing for Rolling Stone. However, it looks like the duo is ready to make the transition into an actual rap group.
Making an announcement on their tumblr page and releasing the above trailer, the brothers are getting ready to release their debut mixtape. Hosted by DJ Drama, the project is titled "Urbane Outfitters." Bun B, Freeway, Maino, Lil Jon, Hannibal Burress, and Tha Bizness are all expected to contribute on the mixtape, which will come out on April 1.
As the Rosenthals put it, "This April Fool’s Day will be no joke."
ItsTheReal will also be performing at Bonnaroo later this summer. While the video announces a performance date of June 8 at the festival's Solar Stage, the festival itself is officially from June 13 - 16.
