Doctor Jeep's a name you might not be too aware of, but you should be. 2012 saw him linking up with Freshmore, Lowup Records, Subdrive, and Younggunz to release his brand of bass music, which exists somewhere between the Swamp81 sound and and the throwback UK rave scene from the 1990s, which is reflected in his selection for this week's Five Tracks.

He runs from classic tracks by Shy FX and Burial to deeper tunes from The Others. It's great to hear an eclectic playlist being presented, especially for us, as DAD tries to showcase many different angles of the EDM scene. Nestled in between his MILFCAST and his forthcoming "Sphinx" release on Hot Mom, Doctor Jeep presents Five Tracks.

The Others - "Africa VIP"

When I was a freshman in college in 2008, I randomly bought Rusko and Caspa's Fabriclive mix on a whim because I liked the cover art; the mix was my first introduction to the dubstep sound and I was pretty blown away considering my previous exposure to dance music was stuff like Justice and Daft Punk. Whenever this tune drops when listening back to that mix I always go a little nuts.

Warrior One ft. Lady Chann - "King Riddim"

I think this one encapsulates what I love about the UK funky sound from a few years ago when it was in its golden age. The simple drums combined with the horns and Lady Chann's great vocals are a winning combo, plus it was the first time I heard a spinback inside a tune which at the time seemed revolutionary, haha.

Egyptrixx - "Hexagon Ya"

Not much to say here besides this one opening my eyes to what kinds of crazy synths sound really, really sick in the club. I saw Egyptrixx two years ago in Boston and his live set blew me away, such a creative guy.

Burial - "Archangel"

Is an explanation really necessary? For me this album was a bit life changing and was some of the most emotive electronic music I'd ever heard. When I lived in London last year I remember Jackmaster dropping this at Fabric at like 5:30AM and that might have been the closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had.

Shy FX & UK Apache - "Original Nuttah"

Still one of my favorite jungle tunes. I only really understood this music after really diving into the UK rave culture but this is one of those tunes that makes me wish I was born 15 years earlier.
