File this under "yes, DAD, you were right, 2013 really is the year that EDM goes mainstream." Or file it under "Billboard finally takes a stand that everyone else will have to follow."

Word trickled down today that Billboard, the authority on what's hitting and what's, well, not, has launched a "Dance/Electronic Songs" chart. Forget the fact that the will.i.am/Britney Spears romp "Scream & Shout" is sitting at #1 right now; the rest of the chart finds artists like Zedd, Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and others riding high. It's also good to see how they cross-reference the tracks and their placement on the other Billboard charts.

We've definitely seen EDM peek into the mainstream, but as of January 19, the official barometer of what's hot has properly represented the scene; think of it as EDM getting knighted.
