Years Active: 1986-present

Best Known Song: "Fight For Your Right"

Originally started as a hardcore punk outfit called The Young Aborigines, MCA, Ad-Rock and Mike D switched up their style to tongue-in-cheek pop-culture-referencing rap and completely changed the history of hip-hop (and America). After signing to the fledgling Def Jam Records label, the trio went on to record the best-selling rap album of the 1980s and the first rap album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts: the mulit-platinum Licensed to Ill. Soon after their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, MCA passed away after a battle with cancer.
