Little Rock, Ark. native SL Jones made a strong statement last December with the Flight Risk mixtape. Moving forward, he wanted to drop a series of EPs in 2012 but found his work ethic got the best of him. He and producer DJ Burn One hit the studio to record six tracks together but the project soon doubled in size.
The end result is the 12-track Paraphernalia, an expertly crafted piece of Southern-fried hip-hop. Burn One and his band add a lush depth to the production end while Jones has never been lyrically stronger. That's saying a lot when you consider Flight Risk and his other earlier projects, though he admits that he put more of an emphasis on his words this time around.
