"Party on Fifth Ave."

Produced by: I.D. Labs

Complex says: This song and its accompanying video were released just recently and they couldn't have come at a better time. It's a party record with a true b-boy feel as Mac comes through with "clean shirt, clean pants, new shoes."

Hardcore hip-hop fans will immediately recognize the song's beat, which ultimately comes from Marva Whitney's "Unwind Yourself." In the '80s, DJ Mark the 45 King (the same guy who produced Eminem's "Stan" and Jay-Z's "Hard Knock Life") flipped "Unwind Yourself" and made a classic breakbeat called "The 900 Number." In 1996, DJ Kool sampled Mark's classic and made one of his own, "Let Me Clear My Throat."

Mac's version is more a riff on DJ Kool's than anyone elses, but he still deserves undeniable hip-hop cred for choosing a sample that true rap fans will recognize but not something that's too obvious.
