Ever since the powerful Sylvia Rhone stepped down from her position as President at the legendary Motown Records, the future of the label has been plagued with uncertainty. Things still aren't exactly clear for the Universal subsidiary, but Ethiopia Habtemariam has taken the top position, Vice President, and the logical next step, if all goes well, is President.

Ethiopia is only 31 years old, and she has worked in the industry since the early 90's. While taking on VP duties, she will also hold on to her current role as Senior Vice President of Creative for Universal Music Publishing. During her stay at Universal she's been involved with the signing of artists like Justin Bieber, Ciara, and Chris Brown to publishing deals.

Universal's top executive Barry Weiss explained, “Ethiopia represents the new breed of today’s best creative music executives. There is no one more relevant and credible in the creative community to help us build upon Motown’s fantastic legacy and move the company into its next groundbreaking era.”
