Wavves matured his sound on the last album, King of the Beach. Now his themes are growing up. "Bug" is about an asshole who starts shit, uses people, and screws over his friends. Basically the type of guy people assumed Nathan Williams was based on his early material and public behavior. Maybe it's self-referential? Either way, it's a high-quality tune, with its industrial rock riffs and pop-punk melodies. We recognize that it's Wavves, but it sounds like he's about to flip the script on us again with the next LP. And no matter how many times he says "no fun" on the chorus, that should be a blast to hear.
