MIXTAPE:A Place Called Stardom
WHY IT'S WORTH THE DL: You'd be surprised to find out that despite having two independent albums and several videos in rotation on MTV Jams under his belt, DC native tabi Bonney has never released a mixtape. The Mick Boogie and DJ Booth-assisted Stardom is a "best of" meets "introducing" tape, with a mix of his album cuts ("The Pocket," "You"), loosies that found success on the blogosphere ("Radio"), and a bunch of new material that will bring you up to speed with his sound. Tabi showcases his unique "cool guy" flow on the tape's 24 songs, melding his Togolese background (he's the son of afro-funk superstar Itadi Bonney) with the U.S. lifestyle. Collaborations include GZA, Buckshot, Curren$y, Raheem DeVaughn, Haziq Ali, and Wale (twice, one of which we featured), along with heavyweight producers like Alchemist and Jon Redwine, for a well-rounded debut mixtape.

PREVIEW: "Rock Bammas" f/ Haziq Ali
