Even though A-Trak isn't Kanye's DJ anymore, he's still making moves. In addition to touring, the Montreal native has been working on a bunch of mixes, most notably the popular remix to Lady GaGa's "Poker Face," entitled "I Poke Her Face," featuring Kid Cudi, Common and Kanye. With the March release of his official debut album, Infinity +1, and his new electro-hip-hop mix-CD Fabriclive.45 hitting U.S. stores today, A-Trak's momentum is only getting stronger.
Hard to believe that A-Trak is 27 years old, since we've followed his career since he was a teen prodigy winning DMC DJ battles. He's undoubtedly a man of few words, but who knows? Perhaps it's a sign of musical genius? #1: WHATS THE NUMBER ONE DEAL-BREAKER WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A POTENTIAL GIRLFRIEND?
A-Trak says: Number one deal-breaker is drugs, yeah, if she does coke or gets high a lot.
#2: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SNEAKERS OF ALL TIME?
A-Trak says: Jordan 3's.
#3: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
A-Trak says: Uhhhh, probably the last big argument I had with my girl.
#4: IF YOU HAD A WEEK-LONG VACATION, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
A-Trak says: Go somewhere, where my Blackberry doesn't work...and don't bring my laptop.
#5: WHAT HAS TO BE IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR AT ALL TIMES?
A-Trak says: [Laughs.] Salsa...Yeah, salsa. I'm a snacker man.
#6: WHATS THE WORSE WAY YOU'VE BROKEN UP WITH SOMEONE?
A-Trak says: I don't know man, I haven't been in that many official, real relationships in my lifetime. There's never been like the really fucked-up sour, asshole breakup [laughs]... and by that, when I said asshole breakup, I mean by out-of-the-ordinary standard breakup, which would be an asshole breakup. [Laughs.]
#7: WHAT WAS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING FASHION MOMENT?
A-Trak says: [Laughs.] I remember going to Singapore, maybe like five years ago, and I had a layover in Hong Kong. And I bought these sunglasses at the airport during the layover in all of my delirium. So, I did an interview for TV sporting these new sunglasses, and afterwards I was like, "God those are hideous! Like what the—why was I wearing that?!"
