Florida man was arrested on his honeymoon after landing himself in the middle of a prostitution sting.

According to a news release from the Hilllsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a 34-year-old man made arrangements to meet a prostitute while on his honeymoon. He allegedly left his wife in their hotel room and went to the location, where he was met by an undercover detective and arrested.

The man was among the 176 people arrested following a months-long operation targeting human trafficking in Hillsborough County.

“He got married and he was on his honeymoon,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “His new bride falls asleep, and he decides he’s going to respond to an ad that one of our [undercover officers] had placed to go have sex that evening. So he leaves, and comes to the hotel and wishes to purchase sex.”

Chronister continued, “I know we all probably have questions about how long this marriage lasted, but I think the only question here, with it ending so quickly, as a wedding guest — was it too late to get the gifts that they gave returned back to them?”

Back in April, the investigation was launched by deputies within the Human Trafficking Squad of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, with a focus on men soliciting adult prostitutes and also those looking for sex with underage victims.

Since its inception, the Human Trafficking Squad has made a total of 360 arrests and eight rescues, the release says.
