Thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 fuckeries, KFC has been forced to abandon an ad campaign in which it was purported that its poultry products qualified as "finger lickin' good."

As you and everyone you know has hopefully honed in on by now, it's imperative—even during non-coronavirus years—that one's hands remain washed. Furthermore, it's widely recommended, though it should go without saying, that those same hands be used to touch one's face as sparingly as possible. Generally speaking, health experts are pushing the benefits of good hygiene arguably harder than ever in an effort to contain COVID-19's potential for increased global horrendousness.

And due to this intense focus on more health-centered habits, KFC has decided to back off of its latest campaign after the UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received an estimated 163 complaints.

"It doesn't feel like the right time to be airing this campaign, so we've decided to pause it for now—but we're really proud of it and look forward to bringing it back at a later date," a KFC spokesperson told the Independent, per their report on this riveting chicken restaurant matter on Friday.

Following the batch of complaints, per the ASA, no formal ruling or other official action was required thanks to KFC having already decided on their own to suspend promo in which fingers were encouraged to be gleefully licked.

What one does with their fingers and their licking habits in the privacy of their own home, however, is wholly up to them. And in related news, KFC announced this week that—starting on March 14—they would be offering free delivery in the States through April 26 via Grubhub, Seamless, and the KFC site.
