Giannis Antetokounmpo has partnered up with WhatsApp in a deal that sees the Milwaukee Bucks forward becoming the first celebrity to ink such an agreement with the Meta-owned service.

As part of the announcement-promoting proceedings, Giannis was recently pictured wearing a custom hoodie. The design sees Giannis’ 34 jersey number being tweaked to +234, i.e. the international calling code for Nigeria. On the back of the hoodie is Giannis’ family name, Adetokunbo. The custom piece was designed by the Niyi Okuboyejo-founded brand Post Imperial.

“Throughout my life, WhatsApp has kept me connected to my loved ones, my friends, my communities, and everyone important to me,” Giannis said in a press release this week. “It’s a link to home in Greece, and a link to my family roots in Nigeria. Having easy access to my communities has helped build me into the person and athlete I am today, and working with WhatsApp, a messaging service that I use every day to stay connected with family is important to me. I look forward to building on this partnership together.”

The extent of this partnership, per a press release, will be unveiled “over time” following this weekend’s All-Star festivities.
