A California woman has been arrested after allegedly trying to poison her husband.

As NBC News reported on Wednesday, the woman—Yue Yu, a 45-year-old dermatologist—was arrested earlier this month after her husband secretly filmed her during an attempted alleged poisoning in progress. Per the report, she was using Drano and pouring it into drinks intended for husband.

In a press release shared this week, the Irvine Police Department said they initially received a tip from an unnamed individual on Aug. 4 who told them he “suspected he was being poisoned by his wife.” The husband had become sick over a period of about a month and had reason to believe his wife was causing this by intentionally poisoning him. Later, police said, the husband was able to secure footage “supporting his suspicion,” which was then shared with law enforcement.

Ultimately, Yue Yu was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail. She is reported to have later been released after posting bond in the amount of $30,000 and (at least according to the latest reports) has not been formally charged in connection with the allegations. An attorney representing the woman, per NBC News, said his client has denied the allegations against her. The husband, meanwhile, is expected to fully recover from internal injuries described by police as “significant.” He has reportedly filed for a restraining order against his wife, as well as filed for divorce.

The investigation into the allegations remains ongoing. Complex has reached out to a rep for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for comment and will update this post accordingly.
