British music and entertainment institution HMV has confirmed that it will reopen its doors to its original Oxford Street store following a four-year hiatus.

Opening on Nov. 24, the relaunch will be accompanied by a new logo and layout, dubbed HMV Shop, which will be applied to 24 new sites and 14 existing stores by the end of the year.

Set to become one of the largest entertainment spaces in London, the purpose-built outlet will offer over 4,000 popular culture merchandise lines, over 20,000 vinyl albums and CDs, 8,000-plus 4kUHD, Blu-rays and DVDs, and a plethora of music technology products.

Exiting in 2019, the globally renowned retailer, famed for hosting performances and signings by some of the biggest bands and singers, shuttered its flagship location due to the inability of businessman Doug Putman being able to strike a deal with the store’s landlord.

Councillor Geoff Barraclough, Westminster City Council’s cabinet member for planning and economic development, said: “It’s fantastic to see this iconic brand back on Oxford Street, where it stood as a driver of music and pop culture in the capital for so long. The return of this famous name is proof that there’s a buzz back in the West End.”

Putman added: “Our new HMV shop concept and fan-focused offer is really working for us, with HMV once again becoming a mainstay on the UK high street. The return to Oxford Street and reopening of our flagship is a culmination of the team’s hard work over the past four years and, as a business, we see it as the launchpad for an exciting new era for HMV.

“We want our new Oxford Street shop to become a home for like-minded pop-culture fans and music lovers to come together under one roof, as it memorably has been in the past for so many people. We can’t wait to open our doors on the 24th, with a host of exciting entertainment planned for our customers.”
