On Monday, Complex News hit the pink carpet for VH1's Hip Hop Honors, celebrating the legendary careers and work of Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim, Salt-N-Pepa, and Queen Latifah.

With the recent deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police, many celebs have been taking a stand against police violence, demanding that people take action and become a positive force for change. From the New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony calling out his peers to speak up to WNBA players wearing shirts and sneakers in solidarity, celebrities are starting to use their platforms a little differently than a standard Instagram post or a tweet.

During the star-studded event, we took a few minutes with some of the guests in attendance and got their perspective on the Black Lives Matter movement and gun violence in the country. Check out responses from Dej Loaf, Ashanti, Lil Mama, La La Anthony, and more in the video above.
