After purchasing the Welsh football club Wrexham FC in 2020, co-owner Ryan Reynolds is reportedly very interested in acquiring the Ottawa Senators.
While nothing is set in stone, Reynolds’ alleged interest has caught the attention of NHL fans, Senators fans, and Reynolds fans themselves, all hoping he can add some charm to the Canadian capital team.
Most Twitter users were elated to see Reynolds dabbling in Canadian sports, but some couldn’t wrap their heads around the idea.
Other fans are hoping Reynolds has enough money to buy their local disgruntled sports team.
Though most were happy with Reynolds potentially buying the Senators, some seemed happier at the idea of running into Blake Lively at the Canadian Tire Centre.
While the Senators have had a rough time over the past few seasons, Vancouver Canucks fans are trying to steer him into buying the west coast team.
The Ottawa Senators are “officially for sale” according to CTV News, indicating that ownership could change soon enough. Though there hasn’t been much weight to Reynolds’ actually buying the team beyond news reports and a cryptic emoji reply to a tweet, fans seem happy that Reynolds may directly get involved in Canadian sports.
Former Sens owner Eugene Melnyk passed away in 2022. His daughters Anna and Olivia Melnyk currently run the team.
