Iman Shumpert has reportedly been arrested on drug charges.

According to a police report reviewed by TMZ, the 32-year-old NBA star was taken into custody while at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Authorities claim Shumpert was set to board a flight to Los Angeles when TSA discovered he had gone to the airport with a small plastic bag  with a “green leafy substance” inside. Shumpert allegedly admitted that the bag contained weed and was subsequently placed under arrest.

Authorities say they conducted a test and determined the substance was, in fact, 6.12 ounces of marijuana. Shumpert was then transported to the airport jail without incident. According to TMZ, Shumpert was also accused of having a Glock magazine and 14 9mm rounds in his bag, but was not found to be carrying a firearm.

Under Texas law, possession of up to 2 ounces of marijuana is a Class B misdemeanor, while possession of 4 ounces to 5 lbs. is a state jail felony. TMZ reports Shumpert faces up to two years behind bars and a $10,000 fine of convicted of the drug charges.

The former Georgia Tech star—who shares two daughters with his wife, Teyana Taylor—hasn’t played an NBA game since February 2021 when he was with the Brooklyn Nets. He previously played for the New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Cleveland Cavaliers, with which he secured the 2016 championship title.

Shumpert has yet to publicly respond to the arrest. Stay tuned as more information about the case becomes available.
