A New York man died Wednesday following a cardiac arrest after a New York Police Department officer stun-gunned him twice. The New York Daily News reports that the 49-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was threatening officers with a glass bottle after police arrived to his home and used a stun-gun to subdue him.

Three police officers and a sergeant responded to a 911 call around 5:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, when a caller said that the 49-year-old had a knife and was "acting violently." The sergeant deployed his stun-gun the first time, and the man with the bottle fell to the ground, but the Daily News reports that he quickly recovered and tried to fight with the cops.

The Daily News reported that this is when the sergeant discharged his stun-gun a second time, and the man then went into cardiac arrest. The police performed CPR, and paramedics arrived to take the man to Einstein Hospital, according to the Daily News. Police told the Daily News that the man later died at the hospital at 7:22 pm.

The NYPD Force Investigation Division is investigating the tragic incident, but has so far not delivered any disciplinary action, according to the Daily News

Neighbors of the man who died described him in positive terms to the Daily News, calling him a "real good dude," and "not an aggressive guy at all." One neighbor said that the man was great with his son, who called the man "Big Buddy."
