The women taking part in the #MeToo movement are undoubtedly used to their fair share of public attacks. The unfortunate truth is that any time a woman comes forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against a famous man, there are going to be those who lash out at the accuser in defense of a person they formerly admired. But the latest attack isn't coming from some internet troll or Kevin Spacey superfan. Charmed actress and Harvey Weinstein accuserRose McGowan called the entire campaign "bullshit" in a new interview with The Sunday Times.

“It’s all bullshit,” the activist and actress said. “It’s a lie. It’s a Band-Aid lie to make them feel better.”

To be fair to McGowan, it seems like she's specifically addressing the people in Hollywood who have taken up the banner of the #MeToo movement. As she felt compelled to stifle her own story of assault by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein and likely saw people around him working to keep women quiet about his misdeeds, she might have a reason to be skeptical of Hollywood's embrace of the movement that has ousted plenty of powerful men over the course of the last year.

“I know these people, I know they’re lily-livered, and as long as it looks good on the surface, to them, that’s enough.” she said of Hollywood activists. “They’re not champions. I just think they’re losers.”

It's not the first time that McGowan has attacked her fellow stars for what she sees as phony behavior. In an interview with Nightline earlier this year, McGowan jumped on her Charmed co-star Alyssa Milano and said that her support of #MeToo and the Time's Up movement were all done in the name of publicity.

“Do you think I don’t know these people? Do the math,” she said. “Who’s behind Time’s Up? CAA. Where do they meet? CAA? Who needs good PR? CAA. Who are part of the pimp problem? CAA.”

In the Times interview, McGowan said that she can understand why supporters of President Donald Trump have a negative view of Hollywood. She said that Trump's base can sniff out the fact that actors and actresses aren't truly liberals.

“They hate Hollywood for being faux liberals — and they’re 100 percent right about that,” she explained. “It’s a bunch of faux liberals. It’s crap, and they know it is deep down, but they’re living an empty life, and to me that’s their punishment. They get to live the lives they live.”
