FIJI Water recently announced plans to drastically change the way its products are packaged. The brand has a long-term goal to make all of its plastic bottles from 100% recycled plastic (rPET) by 2025, with 20% rPET in bottles next year.

FIJI Water’s mission to lower the amount of plastic waste will be an ongoing process that will impact its entire line. The company will begin offering up a new 2.5 gallon option for the refrigerator or kitchen counter, as well as a 5-gallon option that can fit a standard water dispenser. Both sizes will utilize up to 76% less plastic than previous packaging.

Additionally, FIJI Water owners have pledged $750 million to the California Institute of Technology to combat climate change. A portion of the multi-million dollar donation, which is the largest ever for environmental sustainability research, will also focus on tackling water, energy, and food waste. While most corporations are focused solely on the bottom line, it’s extremely refreshing to see a company that actually cares about making the environment its consumers live in better for generations to come.
