You have to love a dead man with a sense of humor.
A grandfather from Dublin, Ireland set up a "funeral prank" before he died, and his hijinks have now been watched by millions after it went viral online. The man, identified by Dublin Live as Shay Bradley, was a grandfather of eight who always enjoyed a good prank. He died after a long battle with an illness.
The video, captured at a cemetery in South Dublin, shows the people who attended his funeral, surrounding his grave and listening to Irish bagpipe music. When the bagpipes stop, mourners are a bit startled when a man starts knocking and says "hello." When they realize what's happening, they begin laughing.
He also asks the crowd to "let [me] out! Where the f*** am I? I can hear you! Is that the priest I can hear? I'm in the box, can you hear that?"
Bradley concludes his prank by serenading the mourners to a Neil Diamond song: “Hello again, hello. I just called to say, goodbye.”
Andrea Bradley, his daughter, took to Facebook to explain what was happening in the video. "My dad's dying wish, always the pranksters, you got them good Poppabear and gave us all a laugh just when we needed it!! I will love you forever," she wrote, along with the hashtag #shayslastlaugh.
"It was his dying wish that we played this at his funeral," she continued on Twitter, in response to someone's viral tweet. "What a man, to make us all laugh when we were incredibly sad. He was some man for one man. Love you forever Poppabear."
His granddaughter, Chloe Kiernan, tweeted “never a day went by he wasn’t cracking a joke or have a smile on his face no matter the circumstances.”
Bradley was also a veteran of the Irish Defence Force, the military of Ireland. “It is with great sadness that I was informed of the passing of our Military Brother and Veteran Colleague Shay Bradley," they wrote on Facebook. "On behalf of the members of the IDFVA I extend our sincerest condolences and prayers to Anne and family at this sad time. May Shay Rest in Peace.”
The veteran is survived by wife Anne and children Jonathan, Susanne, James, and Andrea, Dublin Live reports.
