YouTuber Known as ‘King of Random’ Dead at 38 in Paragliding Accident

YouTuber Grant Thompson, who was known to his fans as the "King of Random," died at age 38 following a paragliding accident.

YouTuber Grant Thompson, who was known to his fans as the "King of Random," has died at age 38 following a paragliding accident. The news was confirmed on his Instagram account with a statement from his family. 

"It is with great sadness to inform everyone that Grant Thompson passed away last night," his family revealed. "Grant had great love and appreciation for his fans. We invite you to share your thoughts for Grant and the channel in the comments. Please do a random act of love or kindness today in honor of The King of Random. Grant’s legacy will live on in the channel and the global community he created."

YouTube also offered condolences for his friends and family on its Twitter account. "We're deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Grant Thompson, a gifted, passionate and endlessly curious creator," the company tweeted. "We send our deepest condolences to his loving family, The King of Random team and fans."

With over 11.6 million subscribers on his main channel, Thompson was known for his daring science experiments. He had been regularly making videos since 2012, but first uploaded to the site in 2010. As TMZ reports, Thompson went paragliding on Monday and never returned home. His body was found by authorities on Tuesday.

When his body was found, paragliding equipment was found at the crash site. A camera was also discovered, and authorities are reviewing any possible footage to determine what caused the accident.
