What's the pettiest thing you've ever seen someone do? No matter what it is, it can't top this. A real estate developer in New York just snatched the city's most-petty crown right off of 50 Cent's head by taunting his ex-wife with a 42-foot-tall picture of his new one.
Harry Macklowe, 81, is a real estate developer who just happens to own one of the tallest residential buildings in the Western Hemisphere. So, when he finalized his 14-week divorce trial against his former wife of 50 years, Linda, he used the face of the building to celebrate. In a particularly nasty twist of the knife, the building was supposed to house Linda's apartment, though she was able to get out of her contract in their divorce.
He plastered a photo of himself and his new wife Patricia Landeau in what he called a "proclamation of love." But it doesn't take much digging to see the spirit underneath. The photos are both massively mean and just plain massive.
“Since I wasn’t getting married during the summer in the Hamptons,” Macklowe told the New York Times. “I wasn’t able to hire an airplane with a banner to go up and down the shoreline. I thought: ‘I own a building. Why don’t I just hang a banner from my own building?’”
Macklowe has yet to decide when he will remove the photos.
“My wife looks gorgeous, and I love the picture of me,” he said.
