A college student says she found a man in her closet, who was wearing her clothes, Fox8 reports.

The girl, who’s only been identified as Maddie, is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and lives in an off-campus apartment. She said she found the man on Saturday, rifling through her clothes.

“I’ve been having like pieces of clothes missing. Like shirts and pants,” Maddie told Fox8. She even saw handprints on the bathroom wall. She and her roommates thought it was a ghost or rodent.

“I just hear rattling in my closet. It sounded like a raccoon in my closet,” Maddie said. “I’m like who’s there? And somebody answers me. He’s like ‘oh my name is Drew.’ I open the door and he’s in there, wearing all of my clothes. My socks. My shoes. And he has a book bag full of my clothes.”

The man Maddie found in her closet was 30-year-old Andrew Swofford. After she discovered him, she calmly called her boyfriend, and while waiting for him to arrive, she talked to Swofford in an attempt to distract him.

“He tries on my hat. He goes in the bathroom and looks in the mirror and then is like ‘you’re really pretty, can I give you a hug?’ she explained to Fox8. “But he never touched me.”

Now, what she and her roommates are trying to figure out is how he got inside. They all said that they keep their doors locked and hadn’t seen them damaged. What’s frightening for them is that this isn’t the first time they’ve come home to find strange men inside their apartment.

“There was two guys in the living room,” Maddie said of an incident that occurred on Dec. 19. The women informed their building, and someone changed the locks. They didn’t inform the police, which is standard protocol, per Fox8.

But Maddie and her roommates are at their wit’s end. “Last night I did not feel safe. I slept with my roommate in her bed,” she said. “I can’t stay here. My closet, it stinks. Every time I go in [my room] there’s a bad vibe. I’m just ready to leave.”

Swofford was subsequently jailed under a $26,000 bond on 14 felony charges, including larceny and identity theft.

He’s in jail right now on a $26,600 bond. He has had several other charges and run-ins with the law before. @myfox8
