Twitter will be beta testing new features out in the open and users can apply to be the first to try out the new functions. According to Engadget, Twitter is rolling out new ways to better navigate conversations.
While the platform hasn't shared exactly what the new features will do, Twitter Director of Product Management Sara Haider said that they were hoping to improve Twitter threads and make it easier to understand the context of what a given user is tweeting about.
Since key features like mentioning users and hashtags were developed by users on the platform, Twitter believes that they need to listen to their users when developing new features.
"We want to develop a service for the people that are using it," Haider said.
Anyone can apply to be a tester for Twitter's upcoming features and followers will be able to see them using it on their timelines. Only around 1,000 people will be allowed to use the new features at first.
"We want to turn these kinds of things into features for everyone," she said, noting that the plan was to incorporate their feedback before rolling out the features to everyone.
Twitter recently unveiled new features to make using their app more pleasant. The company added a report feature to combat bots and other suspicious activity as well as a "Sparkle" feature in iOS that allows users to sort their tweets in algorithmic or chronological order.
