presidential alert

On Wednesday afternoon, a majority of U.S. citizens with cell phones were sent a test for a presidential alert system directly to our mobile phones. Immediately people went on Twitter to raise concerns over Donald Trump's ability to mass text everyone without our consent.

t***p is the ex you blocked on twitter, insta, fb, tumblr, gmail, gchat, & snapchat so they only way they can reach you is paypaling you a dollar with the memo “can we just talk”

A few people, however, received slightly different presidential alerts.

Well... nice of them to let people know #PresidentialAlert pic.twitter.com/aeevMHZyEX

Others pointed to various reasons why the Trump administration shouldn't be texting everyone.

That presidential text is like getting an Amber Alert from the guy who did it

And some lucky assholes didn't get the message at all.

Unfortunately, according to Wired, you truly cannot opt out of any future, unwanted presidential alerts. Even though there's an option to turn off amber alerts and other emergency notifications on iPhones and Androids, the presidential alert system is an exception.

More importantly though:

You think Kevin Gates got two Presidential alert texts just now?

Since apparently everyone has time in the middle of a Wednesday, the memes have already started to snowball. Check out a few *fun* ones below.

Wtf does he have to say that he can't tweet? Must be very important. #PresidentialAlert
