Woman Tells Cops She's a 'Very Clean, Thoroughbred, White Girl' to Get Out of a DUI

A 32-year-old South Carolina woman, who was driving 30 miles an hour over the speed limit with double the legally allowed alcohol limit, tried to talk her way out of a parking ticket by invoking her good grades, her university degree, and her race.

Plenty of people throughout history have attempted to charm their way out of a speeding ticket using a number of dubious tactics. One South Carolina woman’s recent attempts should win an award for the most pathetically racist attempt, though: after 32-year-old Lauren Elizabeth Cutshaw was pulled over driving over 30 miles an hour above the speed limit and with a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit, she tried to get the cop to let her off because she was a "very clean, thoroughbred, white girl,” the Island Packet reports.

Of course, Cutshaw, what with her good breeding, wouldn’t go that far to not really bring things home. She managed to make things even worse by nodding to the countless times black people who were neither speeding nor drunk nor racist have died or been beaten during traffic stops by saying: "You’re a cop, you should know what that means."

Well, to be fair, she allegedly word vomited a long list of other equally useless attributes for why the police officers who stopped her over should look the other way. Her first excuse was that she had just been celebrating her birthday, but then the laundry list grew to include the fact that she: had perfect grades, had been a cheerleader, had been a sorority girl, her partner is a cop, she graduated from a good university, and was in the National Honors Society.

She was also slurring her words and had glossed over, bloodshot eyes. It appeared Cutshaw was shocked that even your run-of-the-mill white high school girl could drive drunk… almost two decades after she’s left high school.

It’s a testament to Cutshaw’s drunken racist pleas that it’s necessary to add the police did not take her seriously. She was taken to jail and charged with a DUI, speeding, disregarding a stop sign, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
