After Criticizing Immigrants, Tomi Lahren's Geneology Reveals Her Ancestors Didn't Speak English

The conservative talking head might have more in common with immigrants than she thought.

Tomi Lahren is aย frequent critic of black people, liberals, Beyoncรฉ, dogs, and of course, immigrants. But asย Daily Dot notes, German journalist and genealogist Jennifer Mendelsohn revealed via Twitter that Lahren may have more in common with said immigrants than she would like to think.

In support of the harsh, and horrible anti-immigrant moves recently made by the Trump administration, Lahren went on a rant about how people who donโ€™t speak English or have money shouldnโ€™t be allowed into the country. โ€œYou donโ€™t just come into this country with low skills, low education, not understanding the language and come into our country because someone says it makes them feel nice. Thatโ€™s not what this country is based on,โ€ she said on Fox News.

In response, Mendelsohn dug up some serious dirt on Lahrenโ€™s own family tree, revealing that she herself is the descendant of people who immigrated to the U.S. without speaking English. Lahrenโ€™s great-great-great-grandmother lived in the U.S. for 41 years only speaking German, and her great-great-grandmother didnโ€™t speak English after living in the U.S. for a decade. Her great grandfather also had his baptism recorded in Norwegian.

Except the 1930 census says Tomi's 3x great-grandmother had been here for 41 years and still spoke German.

Her 2nd great-grandmother had been here for 10 yrs. Spoke no English.

Imagine if Lahrenโ€™s ancestors were never allowed into the country because they didnโ€™t speak English. TheFox Newshost would have neverย amassed a huge following, a $3 million net worth, and the opportunity to treat immigrants as subhuman.

One last thing before I shut off my phone:
This is not about playing gotcha.
But as long as people like Lahren continue to push a specious agenda that suggests today's immigrants are somehow wholly different from previous ones, I'll keep showing just how alike they really are.

People are people, and always have been.

Some of our ancestors broke laws, some were model citizens. Some never assimilated or spoke English. Some did.

Blind lionization of the people who came before us may be just as dumb as the wholesale demonization of current immigrants.

What I'm trying to show here is that these nativists can't keep trying to back up their argument by saying "the country doesn't work this way" when clearly it does, and has: for their families.

So why do they *really* not want these people here? That's what we need to dig out.

โ€œThis is not about playing gotcha,โ€ Mendelsohn wroteย after sharing her findings. โ€œBut as long as people like Lahren continue to push a specious agenda that suggests todayโ€™s immigrants are somehow wholly different from previous ones, Iโ€™ll keep showing just how alike they really are.โ€

Just some food for thought, Tomi.ย
