U.S. Secret Service, local cops, and FBI responded to an incident outside the White House, where a man allegedly shot himself along the north fence line on Saturday, according to CBS News. The death is being treated as a suicide attempt.

The White House has been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The Secret Service’s Twitter account tweeted, “No other reported injuries related to the incident at @WhiteHouse," and that the man “allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gun shot wound.”

TMZ reported that the man was found unconscious when police and medical personnel arrived, and said they've been told that he's been declared dead. His identity hasn't been released yet.

Donald Trump isn’t currently in Washington, but in Florida at his Mar-A-Lago resort with First Lady Melania Trump.

According to CBS News security analyst Ron Hosko, law enforcement will investigate whether or not the incident was political. “You can get pretty darn close to the White House with a weapon,” he said, explaining that even though security around the White House is tightened, people can get fairly close to the boundaries.
