There is some very tragic and disturbing news out of Massachusetts. A woman has been arrested for killing her two sons as part of a “voodoo” ritual. The horrifying story is sadly not the first of its kind in recent weeks. As the New York Post reports, the woman stabbed her eight-year-old son 50 times with a kitchen knife, before moving on to her five-year-old. According to authorities, the woman said the first ritual “came out wrong with the first one and for that reason she had to move on to the second."
Latarsha Sanders, 43, admitted to stabbing both her children, Edson “Marlon” Brito and Lason Brito. The boys’ bodies were found after in the beds of different rooms in the family’s apartment after their mother asked a neighbor to call an ambulance. According to Assistant Plymouth District Attorney Jessica Kenny, Sanders “responded to police that she felt bad about what she had done. She told police she mopped up the blood on the floor. She indicated she used a kitchen knife to stab both of them and left it in the sink. She also indicated she cleaned up both of the children and placed them in separate beds.”
Kenny says the boys were last alive on Saturday when their mother took them to their grandmother’s house. However, it remains unclear as to when exactly they died. Sanders told their grandmother she was taking her sons to the hospital because she was concerned they had the flu.
