Ivanka Trump Called Out for Questionable Black History Month Tweet

It’s February, so keep your eyes peeled for the hypocritical and offensive Black History Month tweets from politicians and other public figures who don’t do much to help black folks at any other time of the year. Today’s edition is by Ivanka Trump, and her entry is a steamy one. If we can agree on anything, it ought to be that if a month is dedicated to spotlighting a certain group’s history and culture, that’s what you should at least try to do, rather than what Ivanka did, which is essentially smear “All Lives Matter” on Black History Month.

Ivanka Trump tweeted that Black History Month is a time to celebrate “heroes” like Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who “were sojourners for freedom.” She capped it off with a “resolve to continue to bring greater equality, dignity and opportunity to all Americans, regardless of race or background.”

People on Twitter had many issues with her tweet. Many pointed out the cutting irony of Donald Trump’s daughter making such a statement. She has continued to support her father throughout his career and presidency despite being sued by the Justice Department for not renting to black people, referring to Nazis as “very fine people,” and calling countries in Africa, as well as Haiti and El Salvador, “shitholes.” (These are only a few examples. There are many more.)

Despite all of this, Ivanka continues to serve as an “adviser” to her dad. It was simply too much for almost anyone with half a brain who saw her latest tweet, and they had no shame in calling her out loudly and viciously.
