Dashcam footage has surfaced showing a New Jersey police officer kicking a handcuffed suspect in the head on Thanksgiving at Carneys Point.
Penns Grove Police officer George Manganaro, 29, has been suspended and is being charged with aggravated assault.
The one-minute video, which was acquired by NJ Advanced Media, shows another officer and Manganaro talking to 22-year-old burglary suspect Xaviel Ramos. Ramos appears to try to walk the other way, when the police force him on to ground. When it looks like Ramos tries to get up, Manganaro kicks him in the head, sending Ramos’ hat flying of his head.
It should be noted that Ramos can be seen wearing a jacket but no pants in the video. The incident occurred when police responded to a home after a woman called 911 to report that someone had either punched or thrown a brick through the window. She told the dispatcher her boyfriend was holding on to the suspect until the police arrived.
Manganaro has yet to comment on the incident. According to Salem County prosecutor, Ramos suffered a minor facial abrasion due to the cold not from the kick. You can watch video of the incident below, but be warned, it is graphic.
