Omarosa Manigault, White House Director of Communications for the Office of Public Liaison, waits to hear the US President speak on combatting drug demand and the opioid crisis on October 26, 2017 in the East Room of the White House in Washington, DC.

Nope, she wasn’t fired…we think. Former star of TheApprentice Omarosa Manigault-Newman has resigned for her position as director of communications for the White House Public Liaison Office, the White House has announced. Omarosa is said to have resigned on Tuesday “to pursue other opportunities,” according to press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Omarosa will formally leave her position on Jan. 20th, 2018.

BuzzFeed is reporting that Omarosa was indeed fired on Tuesday night, before being escorted out of the building. An insider says Omarosa had become increasingly frustrated with the way the Trump administration was handling issues pertaining to race. (Us too.) Being the only black staffer in the White House only seemed to have made matters worse. The same insider also claims that Omarosa’s departure is a long time coming, as she had wanted to leave the White House in the wake of Charlottesville.

Trump and Omarosa met on the first season of The Apprentice in 2004. Omarosa went on to be an executive producer on and star of Trump’s dating show The Ultimate Merger (who knew President Gram ’Em by the Pussy had a dating show?)

Despite her rather narrow title at the White House, Omarosa is sad to have had a broad role in Trump’s administration, sometimes to the dismay other White House staff, perhaps most notably Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Like Trump, Omarosa is a former Democrat, but black Republicans didn’t have the easiest time embracing her, despite her high status in the administration. According to longtime advisor to Ben Carson, Armstrong Williams, her tenure at the White House was somewhat of a disappointment for black conservatives. To be fair, the rights of African-Americans must be difficult to push in this administration, no matter who you are or what TV shows you’ve been on with the President.
