"What we have determined is that it is random as of right now," Thornton Police Department spokesperson told reporters. "As witnesses stated, the person came in and just shot toward a group." Of those confirmed, two were men and one was a woman. The two men died at the scene. The woman died after being transported to a nearby hospital. One witness reported hearing as many as 30 gunshots, the sound of which another witness mistook for a balloon popping.

"A very sad night in Thornton," Mayor Heidi Williams said late Wednesday night in a statement. "My prayers go out to victim's families and loved ones. Thank you to large response from our neighbors."

Trump, always quick to label anyone who isn't white with words like "animal," had not commented on the Thornton shooting at the time of this article's publication. Early Thursday morning, Trump was still busy tweeting about 29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, the man authorities say killed eight people in New York earlier this week.
