Steve Bannon: Trump Will Win 2020 Election By 400 Electoral Votes

The statement comes after reports that Bannon was no longer confident Trump could finish his current term.

Steve Bannon has refuted reports that he was no longer confident in Donald Trump’s ability to complete his first term. According The Hill, the former White House chief strategist reiterated his faith in POTUS with a bold prediction: Trump will win the 2020 election by 400 electoral votes—nearly 100 more votes than what he earned in 2016.

"The populist, nationalist, conservative revolt that's going on, that drove Donald Trump to victory, that drove Judge [Roy] Moore to victory, that will drive 15 candidates to victory in 2018, and I hate to break it Graydon Carter and the good folks at Vanity Fair, but yes, President Trump is not only going to finish this term, he's going to win with 400 electoral votes in 2020," Bannon said during a speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C.

The statement is quite different than the one he allegedly made several months ago, as reported by Vanity Fair. A source recently told the publication Bannon expressed his concern that the 25th Amendment would put an end to Trump’s presidency. The measure states the Cabinet can vote to remove a sitting president if "he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."

Basically, the majority can vote to have him removed if he lacks the ability to properly lead the country. The amendment also lays out the procedure for replacing a president in cases of death, resignation, or removal.

According to the Vanity Fair source, Bannon said there was only a 30 percent chance that Trump would complete his current term.

Though there has been a lot of discussion about the 25th Amendment this year, Constitution Center President Jeffrey Rosen said it is very unlikely it will be used to get Trump out of the White House.

"The determination of the president’s disability is really a political question," Rosen told CBS Philly. "So that means that the Cabinet and the Vice President decide what disabled means. It’s not a decision for doctors. It’s not ultimately a medical decision. It’s basically a question of whatever the Vice President and Cabinet think […] It’s easier to impeach than invoke the 25th Amendment, which is why no president has ever been removed under the disability provision of the 25th Amendment."
