White Supremacists Rally In Knoxville Draws Counter Protest

A video released by the ACLU of Virginia shows a man firing a handgun near a downtown park as protestors and counter-protestors clashed in Charlottesville two weeks ago. The man, who wore a bulletproof vest, pointed his pistol toward a crowd and fired one shot at the ground, in the direction of a black man.

The ACLU states the man was arrested and charged with a crime.

As the New York Times reported, the man walked past approximately 12 police troopers who were about 10 feet away. None of the troopers moved. People are now asking for answers and questioning why the officers did not apprehend the man.

Rosia Parker, a community activist in Charlottesville, told The Times: “We all heard it and ran—I know damn well they heard it. They never moved.”

The report from The Times confirmed that a suspect in the shooting was indeed in custody as of Saturday morning.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson appeared on Fox News Sunday and, upon being pressed about the administration’s response to the attacks, said “the president speaks for himself.”
