NRL star Shaun Kenny-Dowall has been arrested at Sydney’s notorious Ivy nightclub for possession of cocaine. Police have confirmed they were called to search the club at 1am this morning. A police spokeswoman said they found a “small, re-sealable bag containing 0.46g of cocaine” on his person.

This morning, the Sydney Roosters stated that they were aware of “an incident that occurred overnight involving Shaun Kenny-Dowall”, and were investigating the matter.

Kenny-Dowall made headlines last year when he was charged with ten counts of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend Jessica Peris. The magistrate eventually found him not guilty of all charges. In reaching their verdict, the court pored through the couple's 40000 text messages. A message sent in April 2015 shows Kenny-Dowall's dissatisfaction with Peris’ cocaine use: ““U don’t need to do drugs every time u go out either Jess,” he wrote. “It’s all or nothing for u no in between”.

The Kiwi national was handed a field court attendance notice for possession of a prohibited drug, and is due to appear in court on June 21.
