The annual White House Easter Egg Roll was supposed to be a layup for Donald Trump. We honestly didn’t expect much from him, other than giving a little speech, engaging with a giant bunny, and successfully blowing a whistle. But leave it to Trump to make this typically tame event awkward and somewhat controversial.

On Monday morning, the president welcomed a crowd of families on the South Lawn, alongside first lady Melania Trump and their 11-year-old son Barron. The annual festivities kicked off with the singing of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” which is when many people believe Trump took another L.

Just seconds into the song, both Melania and Barron are seen placing their hands on their hearts, while Trump simply stands there with his hands by his side. The first lady then appears to give her husband a nudge to remind him—the 45th president of the United States—what to do during the national anthem. The gentle reminder was a success, as Trump was seen immediately raising his hand and putting it where his heart should be. According to Title 36 of the United States Code, all people who are not in uniform or veterans "should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart" during the national anthem.

Though it was a subtle moment, the internet couldn’t help but drag the POTUS. You can check out some of the Twitter reactions below.
