A former adviser for Donald Trump went on a misogynistic Twitter rant Saturday night after attempting to defend the president’s wiretapping theories.
Roger Stone posted a now-deleted tweet in which he claimed former President Barack Obama conducted “illegal surveillance” of Trump during the 2016 presidential race. A Twitter user, who identifies herself as Caroline O under the @RVAwonk handle, asked the right-wing talking head if he knew what libel was, suggesting his claims could have serious legal repercussions.
The simple question caused Stone to have a total meltdown, which included a series of expletive-filled tweets directed at Caroline O and others who challenged his position. He also posted and later deleted a tweet in which he admitted to working with WikiLeaks' Julian Assange during the campaign. Stone later claimed he "never had direct contact with [Assange]."
Famed author J.K. Rowling was one of the many people who called attention to Stone’s wildly offensive comments, as well as his association with Trump. Stone replied by calling Rowling a hypocrite for her position on refugees
But that was just the tip of this excrement iceberg.
Stone also turned his attention to political strategist Ana Navarro, a well-known Republican who is a vocal critic of Trump.
Stone’s ignorance and hate wasn’t strictly reserved for women, though. He also attacked journalist Yashar Ali, calling him a “talentless asswipe” after assuming he had been sub-tweeted.
According to the New York Times, Stone is one of several Trump advisers who is being investigated for contact with Russia. He has since denied these allegations, telling NBC, "They’d be pretty bored if they wanted to look at my e-mails or transmissions because they won’t find anything of this nature,” he said. “I have no Russian clients. I’ve never been in touch with anyone in Russia.”
