In peak Florida Man fashion, a would-be burglar decided to ignore any glaringly obvious red flags while attempting to rob a spy store that sells—you guessed it—surveillance equipment.

According to ABC News, a man allegedly attempted to rob Spy Spot Investigations in Deerfield Beach, Florida on Wednesday by smashing its front door with a rock, but ultimately failed. As you might have guessed, this was all caught on (several) videos and promptly shared by the spy shop for our viewing enjoyment.

"This is probably the last place you would want to try to burglarize," Evan Tannenbaum, manager of Spy Spot Investigations, told local station WSVN. "We got a whole bunch of surveillance cameras. We’ve got hidden cameras, we also do GPS tracking devices, audio recording devices."

Tannenbaum tells WSVN that the man, who was captured by cameras wearing a baseball hat and hood, attempted the break-in at approximately 4 a.m. Wednesday morning. Security cameras reportedly captured him walking down Hillsboro Boulevard before he approached the shop with a rock and attempted to smash its front door.

As Tannenbaum points out, and as is evidenced in the video above, multiple signs indicate that the building is under surveillance at all times. "And at one point, it looks like he can tell he’s on camera, but he doesn’t stop. Then he comes back, basically kicks the door again, tries to push it with his hands and then walks away,” Tannenbaum told WSVN.

If you're perplexed by the thief's choice of target, you're not alone. “I don’t know why you would try to rob a spy store,” Tannenbaum told WSVN. “The guy’s probably not the smartest criminal.” Seconded.

WSVN encourages anyone with information about the man's identity to call the Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
