With two days left until Election Day, Donald Trump's aides have finally pulled the plug on the Republican candidate's Twitter privileges. A new report suggests Trump's Twitter has allegedly been "taken away" from him in an effort to silence any unfiltered commentary.
"Taking away Twitter turned out to be an essential move by his press team, which deprived him of a previously unfiltered channel for his aggressions,” according to a source at The New York Times. While a spokesperson from the Trump campaign has not commented on these claims, the Republican's Twitter account appears to carry a much different voice than it has previously. Now, the presidential hopeful's account seems to be dedicated to promoting campaign rallies, videos, and photos.
President Obama responded to reports of Trump's Twitter 'suspension,' taking a light jab at the Republican. "In the last two days, they had so little confidence in his self control, they just said they're going to take away your Twitter," Obama said during a rally for Clinton in Florida on Nov. 6. "If somebody can't handle a Twitter account, they can't handle the nuclear codes." The president also roasted the presidential hopeful for his past social activity. "If somebody starts tweeting at 3 in the morning because SNL made fun of you, then you can't handle the nuclear codes."
The Times report also claims the new Twitter direction may have something to do with Trump being worried about his chances of defeating Hillary Clinton. In recent weeks leading up to the election, Trump has allegedly expressed doubt and has allegedly been talking with his aides "well into the night."
Despite the latest reports, Trump hasn't appeared to be too worried about the final outcome. In fact, during his recent campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Nov. 4, Trump suggested that he didn't need celebrity guests to convince people to vote for him. "I didn’t have to bring J-Lo or Jay-Z — the only way she gets anybody, I am here all by myself," Trump said, blasting Clinton whom recently was backed by Beyonce, Jay Z and other celebrities at a Get Out the Vote concert in Cleveland, Ohio.
