During the cold open on last night's episode of Saturday Night Live, the planned spoof of Tuesday's debate between vice presidential nominees was preempted by an interview with Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump. Trump was on hand to "apple-ogize" for comments that surfaced on Friday, in which he revealed that grabbing women "by the p****" is something he can just do because he's famous.

Clearly the writers at Saturday Night Live don't believe in the old comedy adage that it can be "too soon" to joke about something if the right amount of time hasn't passed between a traumatic event and the joke that skewers it. Make no mistake: Listening to that audio and then realizing that his country almost put that man into the oval office is definitely traumatic.

But since Trump's chances of actually winning the election are slimmer than ever, it's officially okay to laugh—and there were plenty of laughs to be had. After officially "apple-igizing," he attacked the "coward" John McCain, the "4," Carly Fiorina, and begged women voters to give him one more chance because he "can do a whole lot more than just grab it. I can also bop it, twist it, and pull it."

It’s no wonder Hillary Clinton’s debate prep sessions have turned into the ultimate rager. When SNL checked in on Kate McKinnon as Clinton, she was popping bottles and wildin’ out to Kool and The Gang’s "Celebration." After Donald Trump’s miserable week, life at the actual Clinton HQ might not be too far off.
